Our integrated hollow WPC doors are available in two mainstream surface treatments: lamination and spray painting. Both processes have their own technical difficulties, advantages and applicable scenarios. Choosing the right finish helps avoid production risks and better match customer project requirements.

For the lamination finish, the core challenge lies in precise control of the lamination process. The WPC substrate is beige, and it requires strict surface cleaning before film covering. Any dust, oil residue or tiny bumps on the substrate will cause bubbling, warping or poor adhesion between the PVC film and the door panel. In addition, tension control is critical during hot pressing. Excessive tension will stretch the decorative film and lead to pattern distortion; insufficient heat or pressure will result in edge peeling in later use. The matching of film rolls is another key point. Different batches of decorative films may have color differences, which requires strict batch management. Once laminated, rework is difficult, so the whole process demands stable equipment and standardized operation.

Lamination finish is most suitable for fast-track projects, large-volume residential projects, apartment fit-outs and budget-conscious commercial renovation. It features stable color, rich ready-made patterns, fast production lead time and lower unit cost. It is also the preferred option for customers who need consistent batch color and do not require custom special colors. It performs well in dry and normal indoor environments and is widely used for rental apartments, student dormitories and standard interior decoration projects.

As for the spray finish, its biggest difficulty comes from multi-layer coating control and curing environment. WPC material has different thermal expansion characteristics compared with solid wood. If the primer, topcoat and curing temperature are not well matched, cracking, paint shrinkage or poor paint adhesion may occur. Dust control inside the spraying booth is extremely strict. Tiny floating particles will form pinholes and particles on the paint surface, which directly affect the smoothness of the finished surface. Besides, color tuning is highly manual. Custom colors need repeated color matching, and slight changes in spraying thickness, spraying distance and drying time will lead to color deviation. The whole spraying cycle is longer, and the rejection rate is relatively higher than lamination.

Spray finish is ideal for high-end villas, luxury residential projects, boutique hotels, show flats and projects with custom color requirements. It delivers a smooth, matte or silky hand feel that lamination cannot replicate. Customers can customize any color according to design drawings. It is favored by designers who pursue integrated interior tone and high-grade texture. It fits high-end decoration scenarios where appearance, touch and personalized design are top priorities.

In summary, there is no absolute better finish. Lamination focuses on stable quality, fast delivery and cost efficiency, while spray painting focuses on premium texture and personalized color customization. We will recommend the proper surface solution according to your project budget, delivery schedule and design expectation.
